Park

A park is an area of natural, semi-natural, or planted space set aside for human enjoyment and recreation or for the protection of wildlife or natural habitats. It may consist of grassy areas, rocks, soil, and trees, but may also contain buildings and other artifacts such as monuments, fountains or playground structures. In North America, many parks have fields for playing sports such as soccer, baseball and football, and paved areas for games such as basketball. Many parks have trails for walking, biking and other activities. Some parks are built adjacent to bodies of water or watercourses, and these parks may comprise a beach or boat dock area. Often, the smallest parks are in urban areas, where a park may take up only a city block or less. Urban parks often have benches for sitting and they may contain picnic tables and barbecue grills. Parks have differing rules regarding whether dogs can be brought into the park: some parks prohibit dogs; some parks allow them with restrictions (e.g., use of a leash); and some parks, which may be called "dog parks," permit dogs to run off-leash.

Pärk or Paerk is a game, somewhat similar to a game of baseball but where the aim is to gain ground like in American football, that has been played for centuries on the island of Gotland in Baltic Sea. The game is played with two teams of 7 people on a field that is 30 metres wide and that can vary in length. The players hit the ball with their hands or feet. The paerk, or serve area, is marked off with wooden laths and measures 2.1 × 0.7 metres.

A park is an area of land with a recreational or other specific purpose.

Das Wort Park (von mittellateinisch parricus „Gehege“; Mehrzahl Parks in Deutschland und Österreich, Pärke in der Schweiz) bezeichnet nach den Regeln der Gartenkunst gestaltete größere Grünflächen, die der Verschönerung und der Erholung dienen.

Een park is een door de mens ontworpen en aangelegd groen gebied met een overwegend recreatieve functie. In parken vinden we vrijwel altijd bomen, vijvers en paden met daarnaast vaak andere stijlkenmerken zoals kunstwerken. Er bestaan verschillende stijlen om parken in te richten zoals de Engelse landschapsstijl en de formele stijl van de Franse tuin.

Un parc est une zone délimitée d'un territoire, maintenu dans son état naturel (dans un but de conservation de la nature) ou semi-naturel et paysager (dans un but de loisirs).

Le mot parc a plusieurs sens en français :
1. Sens premier : enclos destiné à rassembler des animaux domestiques pour la nuit ou pour leur prodiguer des soins.

• cas particulier, parc à huître, bassin rempli d'eau de mer où on élève des huîtres.
• sens dérivé, partie enclose du domaine d'un château (château, jardins, vergers, espace forestier).
• sens dérivé, vaste jardin public.
• sens dérivé, petit espace entouré de barrières où on place les bébés pour qu'ils ne puissent pas atteindre des objets qui seraient dangereux pour eux.
• sens dérivé, espace qui n'est pas forcément clos : parc de stationnement automobile.
