Nymphalis, commonly known as Tortoiseshells,or Anglewing butterflies is a genus of brush-footedbutterflies. The generaAglais, Inachis, Polygonia, and Kaniska, were sometimes included as subgenera of Nymphalis but they are by some people considered to be unique genera. See also anglewing butterflies.
