It was founded as an extension of the D: All Things Digital conference in 2007 by Kara Swisher and Walt Mossberg. It was a wholly owned subsidiary of Dow Jones & Company Inc., and was a member of The Wall Street Journals Digital Network, which includes WSJ.com, MarketWatch, Barron's, and SmartMoney.
