It was written by Andrea Martin and Soulshock & Karlin, and it was produced by Soulshock & Karlin for Toni Braxton's album Secrets but ended up on Monica's debut studio album, Miss Thang (1995). The song was released as the album's second single on August 3, 1995, with "Like This and Like That" serving as its double A-side side stateside.
