Clear Lake is a natural freshwater lake in Lake County, California and is fed by runoff flowing into many streams as well as springs in Soda Bay. The springs in Soda Bay bring carbon dioxide to the surface, hence the name of the bay. The lake's sole outlet is Cache Creek. In 1914, Cache Creek Dam was constructed at this point in order to increase the lake's capacity and to regulate its outflow.

Clearlake is a city in Lake County, California. Clearlake is north-northwest of Lower Lake, at an elevation of 1417 feet (432 m). As of the 2010 census, the city had a total population of 15,250, up from 13,142 at the 2000 census. It takes its name from Clear Lake.
