East Indians or
East Indian Catholics are an ethno-religious Roman Catholic community, based in and around the city of
Mumbai (formerly
Bombay) and North Konkan district (Thane) in the present state of
Maharashtra,
India. These people are of the original small communities from the North Konkan regions mainly Kulbis (Kunbi), Samvedi Bramins,
Kolis (fishermen), Wadvals (farmers), Agris (salt pan workers/owners) and Somavamshi Kshatriyas which had been evangelised by the
Portuguese.
