Sahaptin (also
Shahaptin), Sħáptənəxw, is a
Plateau Penutian language of the
Sahaptian branch spoken in a section of the northwestern plateau along the
Columbia River and its tributaries in southern Washington, northern Oregon, and southwestern Idaho, in the
United States.
