Albanian cardiologist and politician who served as the second
President of Albania from 1992 to 1997 and
Prime Minister from 2005 to 2013. He was also the leader of the
Democratic Party of Albania twice, from 1991 to 1992 and then again from 1997 to 2013. To date, Berisha is the longest-serving democratically-elected leader and the only President of Albania elected to a second term.
