Lorene Scafaria, in her
directorial debut. The film stars
Steve Carell and
Keira Knightley. The title and plot are a reference to a track on
Chris Cornell's 1999 album,
Euphoria Morning, called "Preaching the End of the World". Filming began May 2011, in
Los Angeles,
California. The film was theatrically released on June 22, 2012 in the United States by
Focus Features. The movie received mixed reviews from critics and it earned $9.6 million on a $10 million budget.
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World was released on DVD and Blu-ray Disc and made available for digital streaming in the United States on October 23, 2012.
