"
So Cold" is a song by
post-grunge/
alternative metal band
Breaking Benjamin. It is the first single of their second album released in 2004,
We Are Not Alone and was also released as an
EP. In an interview with
Guitar World, Aaron Fink and Ben Burnley said that the movie
28 Days Later was an inspiration while writing the song because of its feeling of desolation. This song is also the longest released single besides the live performances of "
Until the End" and "
Breath" which are featured on the bands greatest hits album, that Breaking Benjamin has recorded. This song was the band's breakthrough hit and it was also the song that bought the band into the mainstream. The single was certified platinum by the RIAA on the 25th of September 2015, the same day the bands debut album
Saturate was certified Gold.
