The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is a 2003 epic high fantasy film directed by Peter Jackson based on the second and third volumes of J. R. R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings. It is the third and final instalment in The Lord of the Rings series, following The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) and The Two Towers (2002).
