Tyldesley ( or ) is a town in in the Metropolitan Borough of Wigan in Greater Manchester, England. It is north of Chat Moss near the foothills of the West Pennine Moors, east-southeast of Wigan and west-northwest of Manchester. At the United Kingdom Census 2001, Tyldesley including the outlying areas of Astley, Shakerley, Mosley Common and New Manchester, had a population of 34,000. In 2011 the Tyldesley ward of Wigan Council had a population of 14,341.
