The song was written by Minaj, Joseph Hughes, David Freedman, and Andrew "Pop" Wansel, and was produced by the latter. Minaj originally intended to release "Massive Attack" as the lead single from Pink Friday, though its release was scrapped after an underwhelming commercial performance.
