The Ionian Islands (Modern Greek: ; Ancient Greek, Katharevousa: ; ) are a group of islands in Greece. They are traditionally called the Heptanese, i.e. "the Seven Islands" ( or ; ), but the group includes many smaller islands as well as the seven principal ones.
