Nizamabad is a city in the Nizamabad district of the Indian state of Telangana. The city is a municipal corporation and the headquarters of Nizamabad district. It is also the mandal headquarters of Nizamabad mandal. Nizamabad is one of the major urban centres and the third most populous and third largest city in the state, next to Hyderabad and Warangal. The city stood at 2nd position in the state and 82nd position in the country for implementation of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. Nizamabad is also one of the 100 cities of India, which is considered for Smart City project.
