The series includes head to head competitions in 20 different sports; originally, the series only counted 18 different sports in the Territorial Cup Series. The two additional sports of Men's Indoor Track & Field and Women's Sand Volleyball are the recent additions in the competition. In the 2012-2013 season Men's Indoor Track & Field was only counted by Arizona State although clarity to resolve the issue will be sought before the next sponsor for the series is selected. In the 2013-2014 school year, Women's Sand Volleyball became a common varsity intercollegiate sport for both Arizona and ASU.
