The year 2002 in video gaming saw the release of the sixth-generation video game consoles, in particular the Nintendo GameCube and Xbox. It also saw the release of many sequels and prequels in video games and several new titles such as Battlefield 1942. Dungeon Siege, Kingdom Hearts, , Ratchet & Clank, Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, and Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and Betty Bad.
