Afghanistan–Pakistan relations

Afghanistan–Pakistan relations refers to the bilateral relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Both being neighboring states, relations between the two began in August 1947 after Pakistan became an independent nation. Both neighbouring states are Islamic republics, part of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) and designated by the United States as major non-NATO allies.
