The
Shire of Macedon Ranges is a
local government area (LGA) in
Victoria,
Australia, located in the central part of the state. It covers an area of and, at the
2011 Census, had a population of 41,860. It includes the towns of
Clarkefield,
Gisborne,
Kyneton,
Lancefield,
Macedon,
Malmsbury,
Mount Macedon,
New Gisborne,
Riddells Creek,
Romsey and
Woodend. It was formed in 1995 from the amalgamation of the
Shire of Romsey,
Shire of Gisborne,
Shire of Newham and Woodend, and most of the
Shire of Kyneton.
