The
North Caucasian languages, sometimes called simply
Caucasic, are a pair of
language families spoken in the
Caucasus, chiefly in the north: the
Northwest Caucasian family, also called
Pontic, Abkhaz–Adyghe, Circassian, or
West Caucasian; and the
Northeast Caucasian family, also called
