Shinbutsu bunri
The Japanese term indicates the separation of Shinto from Buddhism, introduced after the Meiji Restoration, and therefore the separation of kami (native Shinto deities) from buddhas (buddhist deities), and of Buddhist temples from Shinto shrines (jinja).
