Hedren (born January 19, 1930) is an American actress,
animal rights activist, and former fashion model. She made her film debut in
The Birds in 1963, followed by the title role in
Marnie in 1964. In her later years, she has been involved with animal rescue at
Shambala Preserve, an wildlife habitat which she founded in 1983. Hedren was also instrumental in the development of
Vietnamese-American nail salons in the United States.
