The biosphere is the global sum of all ecosystems. It can also be termed as the zone of life on Earth, a closed system (apart from solar and cosmic radiator and heat from the interior of the Earth), and largely self-regulating. By the most general biophysiological definition, the biosphere is the global ecological system integrating all living beings and their relationships, including their interaction with the elements of the lithosphere, geosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere. The biosphere is postulated to have evolved, beginning with a process of biopoesis (life created naturally from non-living matter such as simple organic compounds) or biogenesis (life created from living matter), at least some 3.5 billion years ago. The earliest evidence for life on Earth includes biogenic graphite found in 3.7 billion-year-old metasedimentary rocks from Western Greenland and microbial mat fossils found in 3.48 billion-year-old sandstone from Western Australia. More recently, in 2015, "remains of biotic life" were found in 4.1 billion-year-old rocks in Western Australia. According to one of the researchers, "If life arose relatively quickly on Earth ... then it could be common in the universe."

The Biosphere is a museum in Montreal dedicated to the environment. It is located at Parc Jean-Drapeau, on Saint Helen's Island in the former pavilion of the United States for the 1967 World Fair, Expo 67.

Die Biosphäre [] (von βίος bíos ‚Leben‘ und σφαίρα sphaira ‚Kugel‘) bezeichnet den Raum mit Leben eines Himmelskörpers. Es ist derjenige Raum, in dem Leben vorkommt. Der Begriff der Biosphäre hat im Verlauf des vergangenen Jahrhunderts zwei Bedeutungswandlungen erfahren. Augenblicklich wird er innerhalb der Biowissenschaften vor allem in einer ökologischen Bedeutung verstanden. Dadurch wird Biosphäre synonym mit den Begriffen Biogeosphäre, Geobiosphäre und Ökosphäre verwendet.

Su estilo es conocido como ambient techno o arctic ambient, y sus señas son el uso de loops y samples relacionados con la ciencia-ficción. Su tema "Novelty Waves" fue usado en una campaña publicitaria de Levi's. Su álbum de 1997 Substrata está considerado como uno de los clásicos del ambient de todos los tiempos.

Biosphere alias Geir Jenssen (Tromsø, 30 mei 1962) is een Noors musicus die een opmerkelijk oeuvre aan ambient-muziek heeft geproduceerd. Hij staat bekend om zijn eigen specifieke "ambient techno" en "arctic ambient" stijlen en zijn gebruik van music loops en samples uit sciencefictionbronnen. Zijn nummer "Novelty Waves" werd gebruikt in een reclame van Levi's. Zijn album Substrata uit 1997 wordt beschouwd als een hedendaagse klassieker in het Ambient-genre.

La Biosphère est un musée de l'environnement situé sur l'île Sainte-Hélène à Montréal, dans l'ancien pavillon des États-Unis de l'Expo 67. À la suite d'une entente avec la ville de Montréal en 1990, c'est Environnement Canada qui reçoit le mandat de définir le concept muséal, de choisir les expositions et de voir à l'animation et à la gestion du musée.
