L’
évangile (du grec ancien qui signifie « bonne nouvelle »), dans son premier sens, est la « Bonne nouvelle » proclamée (étant « Parole de Dieu »), de l’annonce du salut de la famille humaine par la vie et de l'enseignement de
Jésus-Christ. Dans son second sens ‘
un évangile’ est un récit d'un
genre littéraire propre qui traite de cette même ‘Bonne nouvelle’, avant d'être mis par écrit, par les
évangélistes, pour les générations futures. Ce sont les
quatre évangiles de Matthieu, Marc, Luc et Jean.
