Orthodoxie (
orthós ‚richtig‘, ‚geradlinig‘ und
dóxa ‚Meinung‘, ‚Glaube‘, also „Rechtgläubigkeit“) bezeichnet allgemein eine Interpretation einer
Lehre, die sich stark an die ursprüngliche Interpretation hält. Anhänger einer Orthodoxie sehen darin eine notwendige Selbstbehauptung des Denkens gegen Beliebigkeit und Willkür; die jeweiligen Kritiker wenden ein, dass eine orthodoxe Interpretation sich flexiblen Weiterentwicklungen und Anpassungen an veränderte religiöse, politische und kulturelle Verhältnisse verweigert.
