TEXT is the band founded by Kristofer Steen, David Sandström, Fredrik Bäckström and Jon F Brännström. All, except Bäckström, were ex-members of hardcore band Refused. Stylistically, they have little in common with Refused. Their debut album, Text, is a mix of spoken word, music of various styles, and ambient sound effects, often producing an ethereal, avant-garde sound. Apart from the three "Tableau" tracks (which are one piece, split up across the album), each track could be described as fitting into a different genre. In 2008, a second album, Vital Signs, was released. Yet again the style of music is far from Refused and the first Text album. Only Fredrik Bäckström and Jon F Brännström appear on this album.

In computing, a code segment, also known as a text segment or simply as text, is a portion of an object file or the corresponding section of the program's virtual address space that contains executable instructions. The term "segment" comes from the memory segment, which is a historical approach to memory management now known as paging. When a program is stored in an object file, the code segment is a part of this file; when the loader places a program into memory so that it may be executed, various memory regions are allocated (in particular, as pages), corresponding to both the segments in the object files and to segments only needed at run time. For example, the code segment of an object file is loaded into a corresponding code segment in memory.

Text ( ‚weben‘, ‚flechten‘) bezeichnet im nichtwissenschaftlichen Sprachgebrauch eine abgegrenzte, zusammenhängende, meist schriftliche sprachliche Äußerung, im weiteren Sinne auch nicht geschriebene, aber schreibbare Sprachinformation (beispielsweise eines Liedes, Films oder einer improvisierten Theater­aufführung).

Als Textdatei wird in der Informationstechnik eine Datei bezeichnet, die darstellbare Zeichen enthält. Diese können durch Steuerzeichen wie Zeilen- und Seitenwechsel untergliedert sein. Das Gegenstück zur Textdatei ist eine Binärdatei. Im Grunde werden auch Textdateien binär gespeichert, die Begriffe werden jedoch komplementär verwendet, denn die Interpretation des binären Inhalts ist das Ausschlaggebende: Bei einer Textdatei wird der Inhalt als sequenzielle Folge von Zeichen eines Zeichensatzes interpretiert, bei einer Binärdatei ist eine beliebige anderweitige Interpretation des Inhalts möglich. Folglich ist eine Textdatei im Gegensatz zu einer Binärdatei ohne die Verwendung spezieller Programme lesbar und kann mit einem einfachen Texteditor – wie beispielsweise mit Notepad unter Microsoft Windows oder vi unter Unix – betrachtet und bearbeitet werden.

Een tekst, ruim gedefinieerd, is een reeks talige tekens, zoals letters, symbolen of klanken, die in een communicatieve situatie als een geheel wordt ervaren. Een tekst kan dus zowel geschreven als ongeschreven zijn.

En informatique, un fichier texte ou fichier texte brut ou fichier texte simple est un fichier dont le contenu représente uniquement une suite de caractères; il utilise nécessairement une forme particulière de codage de caractère qui peut être une variante ou une extension du standard local des États-Unis, l'ASCII. Il n'existe aucune définition officielle, et les différentes interprétations de ce qu'est un fichier texte partagent des propriétés essentielles. Les caractères considérés sont généralement les caractères imprimables, d'espaces et de retours à la ligne. Certains codages de caractères normalisés incluent également certains caractères de contrôle, séquence d'échappementou marqueurs qui peuvent faire l'objet de différences d'appréciations. La notion de fichier texte est donc subjective et dépend notamment des systèmes de codage de caractère considérés (windows-1252 et ISO-8859-1 n'offrant pas les mêmes plages de valeurs «imprimables».)

Un texte est une série orale ou écrite de mots perçus comme constituant un ensemble cohérent, porteur de sens et utilisant les structures propres à une langue (conjugaisons, construction et association des phrases...). Un texte n'a pas de longueur déterminée sauf dans le cas de poèmes à forme fixe comme le sonnet ou le haïku.
