Year 11 (XI) was a common year starting on Thursday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. At the time, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Lepidus and Taurus (or, less frequently, year 764 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 11 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years. The Year XI (eleven) is also a year in the French Revolutionary Calendar.

Eleven plus exam
In England, the 11-plus or eleven plus was an examination administered to some students in their last year of primary education, governing admission to various types of secondary school. The name derives from the age group for secondary entry: 11–12 years. The eleven plus examination was once used throughout England and Wales but is now only used in a number of counties and boroughs in England. The Transfer Test is especially associated with the Tripartite System which was in use from 1944 to 1976.

- Marcus Aemilius Lepidus und Titus Statilius Taurus sind Konsuln im Römischen Reich. Lucius Cassius Longinus wird später Suffektkonsul.
- Das operationale Ziel des Römischen Reichs im Jahr 11 ist die Schaffung einer menschenleeren Pufferzone am rechten Rheinufer, das strategische Ziel die Unterwerfung der Rebellen. Die Auslieferung und Bestrafung des „Hochverräters“ Arminius und die (zumindest) formelle Unterwerfung der am Aufstand beteiligten germanischen Stämme sind die naheliegenden Kriegsziele der Römer. Inwieweit noch an eine Rückeroberung von Germania magna gedacht wird, ist heute nicht bekannt.
- Die taktischen Maßnahmen von Proconsul Tiberius Caesar Augustus in diesem Jahr dienen der Vorbeugung und zur Abschreckung. Tiberius überquert mit dem Heer den Rhein, trägt den Krieg in Feindesland, dringt ins Landesinnere ein, legt die Grenzwege offen, verwüstet die Äcker, brennt die Häuser nieder, schlägt alle, die sich ihm entgegenstellen, und kehrt ohne Verluste in das Winterlager zurück.

- Campagne de Tibère et de Germanicus en Germanie. Ils renforcent les frontières en Germanie inférieure et sur les bords du Rhin. Auguste abandonne le projet de frontière sur l’Elbe pour ramener la défense romaine au Rhin et au Danube.
- Parthie : Artaban III, de la dynastie des Arsacides, renverse le roi Vononès , auquel il est reproché d'être un fantoche des Romains. Il s'enfuit en Arménie dont il devient roi, mais les Romains le déposent afin d'éviter les complications avec Artaban III. Il est interné en Syrie. Artaban III incarne une réaction nationale contre les influences helléniques, chaldéennes et romaines en Perse.
- Chine : inondation des plaines du Shandong et du Hebei ; nombreuses victimes et famine consécutive, déstabilisant le régime de Wang Mang
