Year 16 (XVI) was a leap year starting on Wednesday (link will display the full calendar) of the Julian calendar. At the time, it was known as the Year of the Consulship of Taurus and Libo (or, less frequently, year 769 Ab urbe condita). The denomination 16 for this year has been used since the early medieval period, when the Anno Domini calendar era became the prevalent method in Europe for naming years.

Classless Inter-Domain Routing
Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR, or ) is a method for allocating IP addresses and routing Internet Protocol packets. The Internet Engineering Task Force introduced CIDR in 1993 to replace the previous addressing architecture of classful network design in the Internet. Its goal was to slow the growth of routing tables on routers across the Internet, and to help slow the rapid exhaustion of IPv4 addresses.

- C. Iulius Caesar Germanicus beginnt mit acht Legionen einen neuen Feldzug nach Germania magna. Das Ziel sind die Cherusker, die auch im Vorjahr den Römern eine empfindliche Niederlage zufügen konnten. Auf gegenüberliegenden Ufern der Weser treffen die Krieger aufeinander. Angeblich kommt es hier zu einem Streit zwischen Arminius, dem Anführer der Cherusker, und seinem Bruder Flavus, der in Diensten der römischen Armee steht.

Classless Inter-Domain Routing
Classless Inter-Domain Routing (CIDR) beschreibt ein Verfahren zur effizienteren Nutzung des bestehenden 32-Bit-IP-Adress-Raumes für IPv4. Es wurde 1993 eingeführt (RFC 1518, RFC 1519, RFC 4632), um die Größe von Routingtabellen zu reduzieren und um die verfügbaren Adressbereiche besser auszunutzen.

16+ is een Vlaamse dramaserie die oorspronkelijk in van 2006 tot 2008 werd uitgezonden als Uit het leven gegrepen 16+. Sinds de derde reeks heet de serie "16 +". Het programma wordt geproduceerd door Kanakna Productions en uitgezonden op Eén. In de hoofdrollen speelden onder anderen mee: Sofie Truyen, Rik Willems en Guy Van Sande. Ludo Timmermans is de scenarist.

- Été : une armée romaine commandée par Germanicus ( hommes embarqués sur une flotte de mille navires) remporte une victoire à Idistaviso sur les rives de la Weser sur le chef de guerre germain Arminius et capture sa femme Thusnelda. Au retour, sa flotte est partiellement détruite par la tempête.
- Hiver : Germanicus est rappelé à Rome, où il reçoit les honneurs du triomphe en 17 et un second consulat pour 18.
- Le sénateur Quintus Haterius propose d’interdire de servir la nourriture dans des récipients en or massif, et de proscrire le port de vêtement en soie par les hommes. Gaius Asinius Gallus lui apporte la contradiction, et Tibère suspend le débat.
- Érection de l'Arc de triomphe de Tibère sur le Forum, pour célébrer les succès de Germanicus en Germanie.
