Acoustical

Acoustics is the interdisciplinary science that deals with the study of all mechanical waves in gases, liquids, and solids including topics such as vibration, sound, ultrasound and infrasound. A scientist who works in the field of acoustics is an acoustician while someone working in the field of acoustics technology may be called an acoustical engineer. The application of acoustics is present in almost all aspects of modern society with the most obvious being the audio and noise control industries.

Die Akustik (gr.  akoyein ‚hören‘) ist die Lehre vom Schall und seiner Ausbreitung. Als Wissenschaftsgebiet umfasst sie sämtliche damit zusammenhängenden Gesichtspunkte, so die Entstehung und Erzeugung, die Ausbreitung, die Beeinflussung und die Analyse von Schall, seine Wahrnehmung durch das Gehör und Wirkung auf Menschen und Tiere. Die Akustik ist ein interdisziplinäres Fachgebiet, das auf Erkenntnissen aus zahlreichen anderen Fachgebieten aufbaut, unter anderem der Physik, der Psychologie, der Nachrichtentechnik und der Materialwissenschaft.

Akoestiek is de wetenschap die zich bezighoudt met geluid. Geluid bestaat uit trillingen die zich voortplanten door een medium. In de meeste gevallen is dat lucht. De akoestiek heeft zeer veel praktische toepassingen.

L’acoustique est la science du son, ce qui inclut sa production, son contrôle, sa transmission, sa réception et ses effets. Elle fait notamment appel à des notions de mécanique des fluides, de mécanique vibratoire, de mécanique du solide déformable et de thermodynamique.

Akustyka – dział fizyki i techniki obejmujący zjawiska związane z powstawaniem, propagacją i oddziaływaniem fal akustycznych. Ze względu na różnorodność działów akustyka jest obecnie traktowana jako nauka interdyscyplinarna obejmująca oprócz akustyki ogólnej, zajmującej się zagadnieniami podstawowymi, również szereg działów akustyki stosowanej, zajmujących się praktycznym zastosowaniem zjawisk akustycznych.
