Airport

AirPort is the name given to a series of products by Apple Inc. using the (Wi-Fi) protocols (802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n and 802.11ac). These products comprise a number of wireless routers and wireless cards. The AirPort Extreme name was originally intended to signify the addition of the 802.11g protocol to these products.

An airport is an aerodrome with facilities for flights to take off and land. Airports often have facilities to store and maintain aircraft, and a control tower. An airport consists of a landing area, which comprises an aerially accessible open space including at least one operationally active surface such as a runway for a plane to take off or a helipad, and often includes adjacent utility buildings such as control towers, hangars  and terminals. Larger airports may have fixed base operator services, airport aprons, air traffic control centres, passenger facilities such as restaurants and lounges, and emergency services.

Mit Flughafen wird ein Flugplatz samt Infrastruktur bezeichnet, auf dem normalerweise regelmäßiger kommerzieller Flugverkehr stattfindet. Im Gegensatz dazu ist die Allgemeine Luftfahrt (General Aviation, abgekürzt GA) meistens nur am Rande vertreten. Militärflugplätze werden nicht als Flughäfen deklariert. Flughäfen erfüllen meist einen höheren Sicherheitsstandard als andere Flugplätze wie zum Beispiel Landeplätze. Auf ihnen ist je nach Größe eine unterschiedliche Flughafeninfrastruktur wie Hangars, Wartungseinrichtungen für Flugzeuge, Abfertigungsanlagen am Boden, Luftverkehrskontrolle und Serviceeinrichtungen für Passagiere (Restaurants, Lounges und Sicherheitsdienste) vorhanden. In anderen Ländern werden unter Airport manchmal auch kleinere Flugplätze verstanden, auf denen ausschließlich die Allgemeine Luftfahrt oder das Militär beheimatet ist.

Airport debutó el 21 de julio de 1999 en la Expo Macworld en la Ciudad de Nueva York; Los productos que implementan el protocolo IEEE 802.11b se denominan Airport, mientras que los que siguen la norma IEEE 802.11g se denominan Airport Extreme. Apple fue la primera compañía en integrar éstas redes inalámbricas en sus productos. En Japón Airport está registrada a nombre de AirMac. El sistema original permite tasas de transferencia superiores a 11 Mbit/s y su uso más frecuente es para compartir acceso a Internet y ficheros entre múltiples usuarios. La estación base original (conocido como el "Grafito") se centró en un módem y un puerto de Ethernet. Estaba basado en la misma tarjeta de circuito impreso de bronce de WaveLAN de Lucent, y usa un procesador empotrado 486. Un segundo modelo de generación (conocido como la "Ethernet doble" o la "Nieve") fue presentado el 13 de noviembre de 2001. Añadió un segundo puerto de Ethernet.

AirPort is een serie routers en netwerkkaarten van het Amerikaanse elektronicabedrijf Apple. In Japan worden de producten op de markt gebracht als AirMac omdat het Japanse bedrijf voor computeronderdelen I-O Data deze naam al in beheer had.

Een vliegveld is een luchtvaartterrein met een of meer start- en landingsbanen waar vliegtuigen kunnen opstijgen en landen.

AirPort est le nom donné à une série de produits du fabricant informatique Apple basés sur le protocole Wi-Fi (802.11b puis 802.11g, 802.11n et 802.11ac). Ces produits comprennent plusieurs routeurs dotés d'un système réseau local sans fil (WLAN) ainsi que des cartes sans fil fonctionnant dans les ordinateurs de la marque. Le nom AirPort Extreme est apparu initialement pour distinguer une nouvelle génération de produits ajoutant le protocole 802.11g au 802.11b présent sur les premiers modèles. Par la suite ce nom est maintenu malgré le passage à des protocoles plus rapides (802.11n en 2007 puis 802.11ac en 2013). En 2011, Apple supprime les références au nom AirPort dans son système d'exploitation (Mac OS X 10.7 Lion) pour le remplacer par le terme Wi-Fi.

Un aéroport est l'ensemble des bâtiments et des installations qui servent au traitement des passagers ou du fret aérien situés sur un aérodrome. Le bâtiment principal est, généralement, l'aérogare par où transitent les passagers (ou le fret) entre les moyens de transport au sol et les avions.
