Axe

An axe (in American English also spelled ax) is an implement that has been used for millennia to shape, split and cut wood; to harvest timber; as a weapon; and as a ceremonial or heraldic symbol. The axe has many forms and specialised uses but generally consists of an axe head with a handle, or helve.

Axé is a popular music genre originating in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil approximately in 1986, fusing different Afro-Caribbean genres, such as Marcha, Reggae, and Calypso. It also includes influences of Brazilian music such as Frevo, Forró and Carixada. The most important creator of this music style was Alfredo Moura, conducting  Carlinhos Brown, Luiz Caldas, Sarajane and others. The word "axé" comes from a Yoruba religious greeting used in the Candomblé and Umbanda religions that means "soul", "light", "spirit" or "good vibration".

Axé (Aussprache ) ist eine brasilianische Musikrichtung, die ihren Ursprung in Salvador da Bahia im Nordosten Brasiliens hat.

Axé es una palabra en idioma yoruba cuyo significado es ‘energía positiva’ y ‘onda vital’. Esta música se expandió rápidamente por todo Brasil y por gran parte de América, principalmente en Argentina, Paraguay, Bolivia, Chile, Perú y Uruguay. Se encuentra enraizada en varios movimientos musicales como el samba, el frevo, el funk carioca y el reggae. Muchos aseveran que fueron los ritmos afro, la fuerza del Carnaval de Bahía (Carnaval de Salvador) y sus potentes tríos eléctricos, los que impulsaron esta música. En sus coreografías incorpora aspectos de samba-reggae, frevo, afro, afoxé, hip hop, danza contemporánea e incluso el aeróbic. L'axé est une musique brésilienne, originaire du Nordeste, symbole sacré du carnaval de Salvador de Bahia. Ce style est très rythmé, entraînant et joyeux.
