Axiom

An axiom or postulate as defined in classic philosophy, is a statement (in mathematics often shown in symbolic form) that is so evident or well-established, that it is accepted without controversy or question. Thus, the axiom can be used as the premise or starting point for further reasoning or arguments, usually in logic or in mathematics The word comes from the Greek axíoma 'that which is thought worthy or fit' or 'that which commends itself as evident.'

An axiom is a proposition in mathematics and epistemology that is taken to be self-evident.

Ein Axiom ist ein Grundsatz einer Theorie, einer Wissenschaft oder eines axiomatischen Systems, der innerhalb dieses Systems nicht begründet oder deduktiv abgeleitet wird.

Axiom ist ein freies Computeralgebrasystem. Es besteht aus einer interaktiven Umgebung (dem Interpreter), einem Compiler und einer Programmbibliothek. Letztere implementiert eine mathematisch korrekte Hierarchie von Typen.

Axiom es un programa de álgebra computacional (CAS) muy útil para la investigación y el desarrollo de los algoritmos matemáticos, para los cuales define una sintaxis rigurosa, con niveles de jerarquías matemáticas estructurados. Es decir, los objetos matemáticos (tales como anillos, campos, polinomios) así como las estructuras de datos de la informática (como listas, árboles, tablas hash) son escritos automáticamente. Cuando una operación es aplicada a un objeto, el tipo de objeto determina el comportamiento de la operación (similar a la programación orientada a objetos).

Axiom was een Amerikaans platenlabel. Het werd in 1989 opgericht door bassist Bill Laswell en was een onafhankelijk sublabel van Chris Blackwell's label Island Records.

Een axioma (of postulaat) is in de wiskunde en logica sinds Euclides en Aristoteles een niet bewezen, maar als grondslag aanvaarde bewering. Een axioma dient zelf als grondslag voor het bewijs van andere stellingen. Een axioma maakt deel uit van een deductief systeem. In de wiskundige logica heet een deductief systeem een theorie. Bij het opstellen van een theorie moet men met een aantal beperkingen rekening houden:

• axioma's mogen niet met elkaar in tegenspraak zijn
• axioma's mogen niet uit andere axioma's afgeleid kunnen worden

Un axiome (du grec ancien /axioma, « considéré comme digne, convenable, évident en soi » — lui-même dérivé de (axios), « digne ») désigne une proposition indémontrable utilisée comme fondement d'un raisonnement.

Axiome est un groupe belge de musique électronique et bruitiste formé en 1991 et produit par le label allemand Ant-Zen.
