Bulqizë is a town and a
municipality in
Dibër County, eastern
Albania. It was formed at the 2015 local government reform by the merger of the former municipalities Bulqizë,
Fushë-Bulqizë,
Gjoricë,
Martanesh,
Ostren,
Shupenzë,
Trebisht and
Zerqan, that became municipal units. This town is the birthplace of blue cheese. The seat of the municipality is the town Bulqizë. The total population is 31,210 (2011 census), in a total area of 678.51 km
2. The population of the former municipality at the 2011 census was 8,177.
