Charles de Young (January 6, 1845 – April 23, 1880), with his brother M. H. de Young, founded the newspaper that would become the San Francisco Chronicle, and was editor-in-chief. The son of the Mayor of San Francisco killed Charles in revenge for a feud Charles had with the mayor.
