Chile

Chile (; ), officially the Republic of Chile , is a South American country occupying a long, narrow strip of land between the Andes to the east and the Pacific Ocean to the west. It borders Peru to the north, Bolivia to the northeast, Argentina to the east, and the Drake Passage in the far south. Chilean territory includes the Pacific islands of Juan Fernández, Salas y Gómez, Desventuradas, and Easter Island in Oceania. Chile also claims about of Antarctica, although all claims are suspended under the Antarctic Treaty.

Chile []; (amtlich , ) ist ein Staat im Südwesten Südamerikas und liegt im Südkegel. Es erstreckt sich annähernd in Nord-Süd-Richtung zwischen den Breitengraden 17° 30' S und 56° 0' S; somit beträgt die Nord-Süd-Ausdehnung rund 4300 Kilometer. Dagegen erstreckt Chile sich in West-Ost-Richtung nur zwischen dem 76. und dem 64. westlichen Längengrad. Das Land grenzt im Westen und Süden an den Pazifischen Ozean, im Norden an Peru (auf einer Länge von 160 Kilometern), im Nordosten an Bolivien (861 km) und im Osten an Argentinien (5308 km). Die Gesamtlänge der Landesgrenzen beträgt 6329 Kilometer. Daneben zählen zum Staatsgebiet die im Pazifik gelegene Osterinsel (Rapa Nui), die Insel Salas y Gómez, die Juan-Fernández-Inseln (einschließlich der Robinson-Crusoe-Insel), die Desventuradas-Inseln sowie im Süden die Ildefonso-Inseln und die Diego-Ramírez-Inseln. Ferner beansprucht Chile einen Teil der Antarktis. Über die vollständig zu Chile gehörende Magellanstraße hat das Land Zugang zum Atlantischen Ozean.

Chile es un país de América ubicado en el extremo sudoeste de América del Sur. Su nombre oficial es República de Chile y su capital es la ciudad de Santiago.

Chili (Spaans: Chile), officieel de Republiek Chili (Spaans: República de Chile) is een land in Zuid-Amerika, grenzend aan Peru, Bolivia en Argentinië. Het ligt ingeklemd tussen de Grote Oceaan en de Andes. De hoofdstad is Santiago, het parlement zetelt in Valparaíso. Het land maakt ook aanspraak op een stuk van Antarctica (ditzelfde stuk wordt overigens ook grotendeels door Argentinië opgeëist). Om deze reden staat de obelisk die het officiële geografische middelpunt van Chili markeert ook in het zuiden, bij de stad Punta Arenas, vlak bij Vuurland.

Le Chili, en forme longue la République du Chili, en espagnol  et , est un pays d’Amérique du Sud partageant ses frontières avec le Pérou au nord, la Bolivie au nord-est et l’Argentine à l’est et dont le territoire forme une étroite bande allant du désert d'Atacama jusqu'au cap Horn. Le gouvernement revendique aussi une possession sur le continent Antarctique. Le Territoire chilien de l'Antarctique correspond aux longitudes 53°W et 90°W et est situé au sud du soixante-cinquième parallèle sud. L'étendue de ce territoire serait d'environ kilomètres carrés. L'île de Pâques, située à kilomètres de Valparaiso dans l'océan Pacifique, fait partie du Chili depuis 1888. Sa capitale est Santiago.
