Chunking (psychology)
Chunking, in psychology, is a mnemonic trick. Imagine you need to remember a random line of letters, for instance M D P H D R S V P C E O I H O P. Easy? Not that much. But what if we group the letters as MD PHD RSVP CEO IHOP? Chunking the line of sixteen letters into five chunks helps remembering these letters, illustrating what the chunking is about.
