county located in the
U.S. state of
Ohio. As of the
2010 census, the population was 1,280,122, making it the most populous county in Ohio. Its
county seat is
Cleveland. In 2014, the county's estimated population was 1,259,828. The county is
named after the
Iroquoian word
Cuyahoga, which means 'crooked river'. The name is also assigned to the
Cuyahoga River, which bisects the county.
