The
k.k. Östliche Staatsbahn (
ÖStB, English: Imperial and Royal
Eastern National Railway) was a national railway company in the
Cisleithania part of
Habsburg Austria. It was founded in 1850 on the base of the Cracow and Upper Silesia Railway (; , opened in 1847) for the purpose to build up a railway network in the
crown land of
Galicia and Ladomiria. In 1858 the company was resolved, and its network was divided among companies in private property. All its lines west of
Cracow were left to the
Northern Railway, while all its lines east of Cracow were left to the new founded Galician Railway (Ger.: Galizische Carl-Ludwig-Bahn, CLB, Pol.: Kolej galicyjska im. Karola Ludwika).
