Der Golfstrom ist eine rasch fließende Meeresströmung im Atlantik. Er ist Teil eines globalen maritimen Strömungssystems, des globalen Förderbands. In Richtung Europa wird der Golfstrom zum Nordatlantikstrom. Er ist Teil der westlichen Randströmung und beeinflusst das Klima in Nordeuropa.
