Hathor

Hathor ( or ; Egyptian: ; in , meaning "mansion of Horus") is an Ancient Egyptian goddess who personified the principles of joy, feminine love, and motherhood. She was one of the most important and popular deities throughout the history of Ancient Egypt. Hathor was worshiped by royalty and common people alike in whose tombs she is depicted as "Mistress of the West" welcoming the dead into the next life. In other roles she was a goddess of music, dance, foreign lands and fertility who helped women in childbirth, as well as the patron goddess of miners.

Hathor ist eine Göttin in der ägyptischen Mythologie. In ihren Anfängen nahm sie noch den Rang einer Lokalgöttin ein und fungierte dort in ihrer kuhgestaltigen Erscheinungsform. Im weiteren Verlauf stieg Hathor zur Himmelsgöttin des Westens auf und wurde zu einer allumfassenden Muttergottheit. Sie war aber auch Totengöttin und Göttin der Liebe, des Friedens, der Schönheit, des Tanzes, der Kunst und der Musik.

Hathor fue una divinidad cósmica, diosa nutricia, diosa del amor, de la alegría, la danza y las artes musicales en la mitología egipcia. Su nombre significa "El templo de Horus" o "La morada de Horus", para identificarla como madre del mismo y, a veces, su esposa.

Hathor betekent Huis van Hor(us) en is een Moedergodin in de Egyptische Mythologie, "moeder van de moeders" en "moeder van de goden" genoemd. Het woord 'huis' werd in de oude Egyptische cultuur overdrachtelijk gebruikt voor het moederlichaam, dat symbolisch als een vat werd beschouwd, in dit geval alomvattend.
