Kazimierz

Kazimierz (; ; ) is a historical district of Kraków and Kraków Old Town, Poland. Since its inception in the fourteenth century to the early nineteenth century, Kazimierz was an independent city, a royal city of the Crown of the Polish Kingdom, located south of Kraków Old Town and separated by a branch of the Vistula river. For many centuries, Kazimierz was a place of coexistence and interpenetration of Christian and Jewish cultures, its north-eastern part of the district was historic Jewish, whose Jewish inhabitants were forcibly relocated in 1941 by the German occupying forces into the Krakow ghetto just across the river in Podgórze . Today Kazimierz is one of the major tourist attractions of Krakow and an important center of cultural life of the city.

Kazimierz [] (deutsch Kasimir) ist ein Stadtteil von Krakau in Polen. Er liegt südöstlich der Altstadt am linken Ufer der Weichsel. Kazimierz war bis 1800 eine eigenständige Stadt. Dazu gehörte auch das jüdische Viertel im Osten mit zahlreichen Synagogen.

Kazimierz (en latín: Casimiria, en yiddish Kuzmir) es un barrio histórico de la ciudad de Cracovia, en Polonia, conocido por haber sido el centro de la comunidad hebrea de la ciudad desde el siglo XIV hasta el final de la Segunda Guerra Mundial.

De naam Casimir (varianten zijn Kasimir, Kazimir of Kazimierz), is een naam van Slavische oorsprong, kan verwijzen naar:

Kazimierz est actuellement l'un des dix quartiers qui composent le premier arrondissement de Cracovie, ancienne capitale du Royaume de Pologne. Réputé pour ses galeries d'art, ses monuments, ses restaurants et sa vie nocturne, il est très prisé des touristes. C'est aussi un des principaux lieux de mémoire pour la communauté juive.
