Kerteminde Municipality is a municipality (
Danish,
kommune) in
Region of Southern Denmark on the northeast coast of the island of
Funen in central
Denmark. The municipality includes the island of Romsø, and it covers an area of 203 km². It has a total population of 23,630 (2008). Its mayor is Sonja Rasmussen, a former member of the
Social Democratic Party (
Socialdemokraterne). Just after the 2009 local election, Rasmussen became an
Independent and was elected as the new mayor with the support of the right-wing parties. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the town of
Kerteminde.
