Lacquer

Lacquer is a clear or coloured wood finish that dries by solvent evaporation or a curing process that produces a hard, durable finish. This finish can be of any sheen level from ultra to high gloss, and it can be further polished as required. It is also used for "lacquer paint", which is a paint that typically dries better on a hard and smooth surface.

Lack ist ein flüssiger oder auch pulverförmiger Beschichtungsstoff, der dünn auf Gegenstände aufgetragen wird und durch chemische oder physikalische Vorgänge (zum Beispiel Verdampfen des Lösungsmittels) zu einem durchgehenden, festen Film aufgebaut wird. Lacke bestehen in der Regel aus Bindemitteln, Füllstoffen, Pigmenten, Lösemitteln, Harzen und/oder Acrylaten und Additiven, wie Biozide (Topf-Konservierer).

La laque est une résine issue du latex, en général très toxique, de divers arbustes de la famille des Anacardiaceae. Celui-ci forme en séchant un revêtement solide, résistant aux intempéries que l'on nomme également la laque.

La lacca, in senso generale, è una vernice trasparente o colorata, che si asciuga per evaporazione di solventi e spesso anche con un processo di indurimento che produce una finitura dura, durevole, che può assumere qualsiasi livello di brillantezza dall'ultra-opaco all'estremamente lucido e che può essere ulteriormente lucidata a seconda delle esigenze. Il termine lacca viene dal sanscrito lakṣa che significa "centomila", a indicare il numero di insetti dai quali è secreto questo elemento.

Lakier – jest to roztwór (lub zawiesina) środków powłokotwórczych (np. olejów schnących, żywic naturalnych lub syntetycznych). Podstawową różnicą między lakierami a farbami jest znikome stężenie lub całkowity brak pigmentów i wypełniaczy oraz często mniejsza lepkość.
