Mathematik

Mathematics (from Greek μάθημα máthēma, “knowledge, study, learning”) is the study of topics such as quantity (numbers), structure, space, and change. There is a range of views among mathematicians and philosophers as to the exact scope and definition of mathematics.

Die Mathematik ( mathematike téchne ‚die Kunst des Lernens‘, ‚zum Lernen gehörig‘) ist eine Wissenschaft, welche aus der Untersuchung von geometrischen Figuren und dem Rechnen mit Zahlen entstand. Für Mathematik gibt es keine allgemein anerkannte Definition; heute wird sie üblicherweise als eine Wissenschaft beschrieben, die durch logische Definitionen selbstgeschaffene abstrakte Strukturen mittels der Logik auf ihre Eigenschaften und Muster untersucht.

Matematik je osoba, jehož primární oblastí, kterou studuje a zkoumá je matematika. Jinými slovy, matematik je osoba, která prináší nové poznatky na poli matematiky, napr. nová pravidla a principy. Lidé, kterí aplikují matematickou teorii, obvykle nejsou chápáni jako matematici. Jsou to inženýri, ekonomové, fyzici, pocítacoví specialisté apod.
