Neoclassical

Neoclassical or neo-classical may refer to:

• Neoclassicism or New Classicism, any of a number of movements in the fine arts, literature, theatre, music, and architecture beginning in the 17th century

Het neoclassicisme was aan het eind van de 18e en het begin van de 19e eeuw een stroming in de kunst, waarin opnieuw de vermeende puurheid van de klassieken werd nagestreefd. Men richtte zich daarbij met name op de (bouw)kunst van de oude Grieken en Romeinen. Beroemde neoclassicistische kunstenaars zijn de Franse schilders Jacques Louis David en Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres, en de in Rome werkzame beeldhouwers Antonio Canova en Bertel Thorvaldsen.

Le néo-classicisme est un mouvement artistique qui s'est développé dans la peinture, la sculpture, et l'architecture, entre 1750 et 1830 environ. Contrairement au romantisme, il sacrifie les couleurs pour la perfection de la ligne.

Il neoclassical metal (o metal neoclassico in italiano), è un sottogenere dell'heavy metal fortemente influenzato da sonorità della musica classica. È caratterizzato da complesse strutture musicali, specie per quanto riguarda gli assoli di chitarra, e dall'uso di elementi provenienti da famosi compositori classici. A loro sono riconducibili i tratti salienti del metal neoclassico, quali la velocità delle melodie e la malinconia delle stesse.
