Osada
Termin osada ma kilka znaczeń:
- Według ustawy o urzędowych nazwach miejscowości i obiektów fizjograficznych, osada to niewielka jednostka osadnicza na terenie wiejskim o odmiennym (wyróżniającym się) charakterze zabudowy albo zamieszkaną przez ludność związaną z określonym miejscem lub rodzajem pracy, w szczególności: osada młyńska, osada leśna, osada rybacka, osada kolejowa, osada po byłym państwowym gospodarstwie rolnym. Osada może być samodzielna lub może stanowić część innej jednostki osadniczej.
- Według definicji etnologicznych osada jest miejscem dłuższego pobytu grupy ludzi wraz z szeregiem urządzeń wykonanych przez nich dla zapewnienia sobie warunków niezbędnych do prowadzenia przyjętego przez tę grupę ludzką trybu i poziomu życia.
- W Królestwie Polskim przyjmowano, że osiąga wielkość pośrednią między miastem a wsią. W okresie reform administracyjnych lat 1869-1870, z 452 istniejących wówczas miast, w 338 odebrano prawa miejskie, w zamian obdarzając ją czysto honorowym mianem osady, pozwalającym lokalnej społeczności na wyróżnianie się spośród wsi, lecz niedającym żadnych dodatkowych praw.

osado
(adj.) = brash ; daring ; bold ; defiant ; audacious ; buccaneering ; devil-may-care.
Ex: Caslon rejected the brash contrast of the later Dutch founts, and produced types that were without serious blemish, but also without much life.
Ex: One wondered, did daring first-year students lose their nerve at the last minute and kneel as evidence that their audacity in approaching this 'holy of holies' was tempered by the proper reverence?.
Ex: 'Would it be bold of me to ask,' she said hesitantly, 'why is the Medical Center library virtually an autonomous unit?'.
Ex: Two recently elected school board members have announced their intention of 'ridding the high school of Mrs Panopoulos' -- to which she replied, with a defiant shrug, 'Let them try'.
