Stone County is a
county located in the southwestern portion of the
U.S. state of
Missouri. As of the
2010 census, the population was 32,202. Its
county seat is
Galena. The county was officially organized on February 10, 1851, and is named after William Stone, an
English pioneer and an early settler in
Maryland who also served as Taney County Judge.
