Tha Chill (born
Vernon Johnson in
Compton, California 1970) is a co-founder of the
Compton based
hip hop group,
Compton's Most Wanted, along with frontman
MC Eiht. During his childhood,
Chill dropped out of highschool and hooked up with neighbourhood friend
MC Eiht, to form the group. Chill has also produced several albums, including
The Hard Way released in 2004 by the
Long Beach based
supergroup,
213. He contributed musically only on the debut album of Compton's Most Wanted,
It's a Compton Thang, as the group disbanded after he was sentenced to three years imprisonment. However, he was subsequently a featured performer on the reunion album,
Represent. Tha Chill was set to release his debut solo album,
Chill Factor in 2008. Tha Chill is currently releasing music through B.J.I./Hoopla Media/LRT Music/Universal Records. Tha Chill is part of the
hip hop supergroup called "1st Generation" with
Kurupt,
Jayo Felony,
King T,
DJ Battlecat,
MC Eiht and
Sir Jinx.
