Analog Science Fiction and Fact is an American science fiction magazine. , it is the longest running continuously published magazine of that genre, the June 2015 issue being number 1,000. Initially published in 1930 in the United States as Astounding Stories as a pulp magazine, it has undergone several name changes, primarily to Astounding Science-Fiction in 1938, and Analog Science Fact & Fiction in 1960. In November 1992, its logo changed to use the term "Fiction and Fact" rather than "Fact & Fiction". It is in the library of the International Space Station. Spanning three incarnations since 1930, this is perhaps the most influential magazine in the history of the genre. It remains a fixture of the genre today.

Astounding, ursprünglich Astounding Stories of Super Science, ist ein monatlich erscheinendes US-amerikanisches Science-Fiction-Magazin, das zum ersten Mal im Januar 1930 als Pulp-Magazin erschien und nach einigen Namenswechseln bis heute unter dem Namen Analog Science Fiction and Fact herausgegeben wird. Es ist damit das langlebigste und ohne eine Unterbrechung erscheinende Science-Fiction-Magazin in den Vereinigten Staaten. Bei Fans des Genres ist es als ASF bekannt.

Analog Science Fiction and Fact is een Amerikaans sciencefiction-tijdschrift, dat in 1930 werd gestart onder de naam Astounding Stories en een paar jaar later werd hernoemd in Astounding Science-Fiction. Dit tijdschrift, eerst onder redactie van Harry Bates, wordt algemeen gezien als het platform waar moderne SF werd geboren. De man die daarvoor verantwoordelijk was, is John W. Campbell, die redacteur werd in 1937. Hij hernoemde het blad tot Astounding Science-Fiction en bond zijn schrijvers aan een gelijke nadruk op wetenschap én fictie. Hij wilde dat ze nadachten over de manier waarop wetenschap en technologie zich werkelijk zouden kunnen ontwikkelen in de toekomst. Nog belangrijker, ze moesten de invloed daarvan op het leven van mensen beschouwen.

Een analogie is een overeenkomst tussen twee zaken die men als grondslag neemt voor een redenering. Het object van de analogie wordt analogon genoemd.
