Aristocracy (
Greek ἀριστοκρατία
aristokratía, from ἄριστος
aristos "excellent," and κράτος
kratos "power") is a
form of government that places power in the hands of a small, privileged
ruling class. The term derives from the
Greek aristokratia, meaning "rule of the best".
